Light on the Land Workshops - Flinders Ranges only 1 place left for 2019
Now in its ninth year, the next Light on the Land Flinders Ranges photography workshop will be held from 17 to 23 August 2019, based as always at the historic Merna Mora Station between Hawker and Parachilna in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges.
This workshop offers a dedicated week of photography in a small group that allows the participant to enhance their skills with support from two presenters, Keith Seidel and Lou Marafioti.
The Light on the Land workshops are aimed at photographers of all levels, including a mix of iconic, publicly accessible locations and private property locations that are not generally accessible to the public.
With two presenters and a maximum of 10 participants this predominantly field-based workshop has a proven track record of participant satisfaction and successful photographic outcomes, characterised by the several repeat participants since the Light on the Land workshops commenced in 2010.
Join with us in the Flinders Ranges in August 2019. The registration form for the 2019 workshop can be found here.
Light on the Land Workshops
The “Light on the Land” photography workshops began in 2010 as an irregular series of one day and longer workshops aimed at amateur photographers, from the beginner to the experienced. In recent years the main focus has been the annual week-long workshop in the Flinders Ranges.
Presented by Keith Seidel and Lou Marafioti, the workshops offer fieldwork, exercises and image review and evaluation sessions. Both Keith and Lou’s aim is that by the end of the workshop you will be inspired by the creative possibilities provided by the workshop locations and subjects, and the skills you have learned or had refreshed during this workshop.
Both presenters believe there are no rules to photography – this workshop is based on testing your ideas with useful tips borne from experience of what works in different situations.
Workshop content is tailored to the experience levels of the workshop participants, from beginners to experienced users of DSLR cameras, to provide creative opportunities to develop your photographic skills and creativity in a range of subjects, with a focus on portraiture and landscape photography.
The Flinders Ranges offer a wide variety of landscape opportunities, both iconic public locations such as the Arkaba Woolshed and Cazneaux Tree, and the private property locations that we have gained access to over our previous eight years of conducting the workshop based at Merna Mora station. Keith and Lou offer :
weekend workshops for camera clubs and other groups upon request,
the week-long Flinders Ranges workshop as a club booking on request.
Each year we include a natural light portrait session in the woolshed at Merna Mora to provide a different understanding of working with light.
